Breaking News: Tennessee WR DeAnthony Arnett Transfers To Michigan State

Wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett has chosen to transfer to Michigan State. Arnett was a freshmen this year at Tennessee and had 24 catches for 242 yards with two touchdowns.

The former ESPNU top 150 recruit originally chose Tennessee over Michigan State after MSU was his top choice for much of the recruiting period.

Arnett’s father has health issues, which is cited for Arnett’s reason to transfer to be closer to his father. His father has had two heart attacks and a series of surgeries performed.

Originally Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley would only let Arnett transfer to a Mid-American school in Michigan.

After some persuading from Arnett, Dooley has let Arnett transfer to the Michigan college of his choice. Arnett chose Michigan State over Michigan.

Arnett was very thankful for Dooley allowing him to transfer to the school of his choice.

“Coach Dooley, myself or anybody doesn’t know what the future holds for my father,” Arnett said. “I feel that I represented the University of Tennessee the best way I can on and off the field and I feel I have earned the right to be released unconditional to all schools in Michigan.”

Arnett will come in and help MSU immediately next year and won’t have to sit out a year. The Spartans will lose all-time leading receiver B.J. Cunningham, as well as Keshawn Martin, Keith Nichol, and Brian Linthicum – all to graduation this year.
